Took a series of shots to test how still images looked over the range of ISOs to find out that the menu's ISO page does nothing. Whatever manual setting used photo EXIF show ISO rated at ISO51(???!!!). Haven't tested Auto ISO yet and still on Firmware v 1.7. I tested from ISO100 to ISO800 All images look the same and shutter speed, (1/85), was the same so ISO definitely doesn't change. I've emailed SJCAM about this and await their response.
Interesting. Thanks
ReplyDeleteWeird- ISO51 ?! (Not sure that will be right, either, but interesting ...)
ReplyDeleteISO 51, yes why that. I will check reported exposue against a real camera, (though whether any of the EXIF details reported are accurate is moot. Is everyone else getting the same result?
ReplyDeleteJust tried an exterior - exif says ISO85, f3.6 1/3838 sec. Without an iris ISO and shutter speed are the controls for exposure - possible there's a limit to the shutter spped, so the ISO is pulled right back ('negative gain' in video-talk).
ReplyDeleteDaylight interior shot still gives ISO 85; shutter 1/60th.
Night-time interiors I've got 0.5 sec ISO184, ISO186 and 1/7 sec ISO181.
All tis with ISO 'set' at 100.
The algorithm seems a bit random :) There must be some limit to how fast the exposure can go, and how low the ISO.
I'm interested in the response you get because I'm getting the same results. Also, if the 3.6 aperture is correct, we might be able to get better low light quality by replacing it with a cheap 2.8 lens.
ReplyDeleteAny update?
ReplyDeleteHi, there is a new official release firmware for sjcam 5000+ version 2.4.. ISO now works at your desired setting. http://www.sjcamhd.com/news/sj5000plus-v2-4-version-firmware-download/
ReplyDeleteI also had this problem on my SJ5000 wifi version. Does anyone here know if the new firmware version 2.4 works with SJ5000 wifi?
